Hey, I'm Allene. I live in Marquette, and while I do consider it home since I've lived here for six years, I don't really consider myself a Yooper as I wasn't born and raised here (and I really cannot stand pasties - too much meat for my taste). I do find the Yooper culture interesting though.

Re: Introductions?
Sun, March 7, 2004 - 10:57 PMHey, I'm Chris. I haven't lived in the UP since I was 18, but still get back at least 3 times a year to see the rentskies. I don't consider myself a Yooper either, though til 18 I lived the Yooper life. Now I can just imitate the accent.

yoopers, funny but true
Sun, January 16, 2005 - 10:45 PMYoopers rock. I'm a convert and now live in LA. I lived in Marquette 5 years, started 231 art gallery and give former pres. Bailey hell as the voice of skinny white boy on Radio X. DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT THE U.P. This should be a private club: I don't want all the CA kats moving there. heh heh. I'm a filmmaker, indy style and I have friends and connections in Marquette. I get back at least 3 times a year, and I'll be hitting Hiawatha this year. I love the beaches, the long winters and piles of snow. The slower pace of life, the white nights from yellow lights refeclting of mounds of snow. The forests and quietness and cold spawn an intimacy hard to find anywhere else. Let's get the yoopers around this country united.
